The Southeastern Z Shootout was an interesting day for this car - it was driven the 2 hours or so to the track on pump fuel with intentions of loading up race fuel and slicks to see what she could do. John and I initially made some passes on street tires and pump fuel at 25psi just to get a feel of the clutch and to post some MPH figures for the car. The best time was a 12.138 with a 2.259s 60' time, but posted a healthy 130MPH pass, pushing 99.3MPH at the 1/8 mile - roughly zero to 100MPH in 8.4 seconds on street tires - and low 12's at 130MPH on pump fuel and street tires - this was all in street trim. Here is the timeslip:

Unfortunately the car was having some slight hesitation problems by the 4th and 5th pass and then the 6th pass was on slicks and the ignition was breaking up horribly. I think John ran a miserable 13.4 second pass on slicks due to the power issue.

Today I had opportunity to go through the car and diagnose the problem - a loose banjo bolt on the wastegate - high pressure side - was loose and not holding the wastegate shut. It apparently worked its way out at the track and this was the cause for the 22psi max boost and the horrible misfiring (as the other side of the engine was running horribly rich). Fortunately this happened on our clock and not several hundred miles away with the customer driving it. *Whew* =)

I took the car out for a test drive to ensure that the boost was back on par and she's running like a champ. Tomorrow AM I will be taking the car to the dyno to retune and play with cam timing, N2O spoolup shot (100HP shot), and I'll be bringing back some figures and other data - should be good information for those interested -
